Artist: Jacco Gardener , “One-Eyed King/Lullaby”

Album: Cabinet of Curiosities

This Dutch band blows me away.  Interesting sounds and instrumentation.  I’d almost call them classical indie!  Self-described as neo-psych/baroque pop.

Sounds like:  The Doors born in a different time

Artist: Bill Orrick, “Wish”

Album: Resonance

I love the way he mixes up his chords.  Different, interesting.  For a bonus, check out his cover of Bowie’s Oh You Pretty Things here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tD5i42avGEo).

Sounds like:  A man baring his soul

Artist: Lonely the Brave, “Dinosaurs”

Album: The Day’s War

I love the sound of this Cambridge, UK outfit.

Sounds like:  A look back searching for a way forward

Artist: The Outreach Project, “Conscience”

Album: On the Moors

Okay, this will sound a little nuts but Conscience, in part, made me think of U2’s “Staring At The Sun” on acid.  Hear it?  No?  Is it just me?  Come on, I know you can! [Is that a cassette? – AC]

Sounds like:  Infectious, poppy, punky beats

Artist: Lovedarling, “Son of a Gun”

Album: The Occupant Theory

I love the sound of this Los Angeles based bunch.  Power punch and great vocals.

Sounds like:  The Strokes with a twist
