  • The whole Dave Grohl phenomenon annoys me. I can't go to music websites, listen to any kind of radio, turn on the tv, or read any magazine for more than 5 minutes without some mention of Dave Grohl.

As with many others of his kind, I was quite a fan, but then the media saturation begins and now I just want to distance myself from everything he does.

Yes, he's a cool guy. Yes, he's crazy talented. I just get tired of constantly hearing about him and seeing people swing from his nuts.

  • Yeah I hate when people talk about someone who is talented and cool. Let's focus on all the Lindsay Lohans of the world instead.

  • I've started to have the opposite experience from iamsuperdan, in a way. I've been sort-of won over by his ceaseless energy, his collaborations and just how prolific he is. This is coming from someone who has never liked the Foo Fighters – with rare exception – I find their music incredibly boring and generic. But the artists he teams up with now make some winning combinations. And the guy seems pretty damn cool all-around, to be sure. It also helps that he's such a cheerleader for bread-and-butter rock n' roll, in this third age of endless overproduced pop and electro-techno-dubstep garbage. Count me a fan by that measure. Just don't make me listen to Foo Fighters…

  • Mark, I have total respect for the guy, and am amazed by the number of projects he is a part of, and the fact that almost all of those projects are successful and brilliant.

I just don't need to hear about it all the time.

  • It seems to me that the thing with Dave is he is always in the media 'cause he is always doing something. The guy seems unable (or unwilling) to take a few days off.
Not to sound like I am beating on poor superdan, but I'd rather hear what Grohl is up to, rather than Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber….etc etc.

But I do see his point, Grohl does seem to get a lot of mileage out of his projects.

  • I think that might be "Yo Gabba Gabba" – a kids show which has celebrity guests. It's a pretty funny show for the preschool set… I think you need to be pretty cool to dance to kiddy tunes with an orange, umm, orange thing.

  • always been a Dave Grohl fan. Stepping out from behind the drum kit of what is arguably one of the most influential bands of the past 20 years and forging his own success with the Foos, is an admirable feat. Give me more Dave Grohl and more Foo Fighters. It beats the crap out of a lot of the rest of the garbage on the radio these days.

  • The great thing about the internet and the media today is, if you don't want to hear about something or someone…you don't have to. Tired of Dave Grohl? Don't click on the link to this story and leave a comment. Don't care what the Kardashians are doing? Don't watch TMZ or any other celebrity gossip show. I watched about 30 seconds of Gangham Style and Harlem shake videos, knew it wasn't for me and ignore them when someone says have you seen this? I'm not a huge fan of the Foo Fighters or Nirvana but Dave has won me over with his knowledge and excitement about music. Whether he's in the Rush or Lemmy docs, touring with Queens of the Stonage or talking about music in general, I find he's a cool guy who you just want to sit down and have a beer with while talking about music.
