Two TV Theme Songs That Had Vocals But You Never Knew It

Those familiar with Star Trek lore know that the original iconic theme was written by Alexander Courage. Few, though, realize that the theme actually has lyrics.

The story is that series creator Gene Roddenberry wanted a share of the songwriting credit so he wrote some cheesy lyrics without asking Courage. He never had any expectation of the lyrics being used, but as long as he received proper publishing credit, he was guaranteed to receive 50% of the proceeds. Here’s what I’m talking about:

And while we’re on the subject, Mental Floss points out that the theme Bewitched also came with lyrics.
