What about the 2020 Juno Award winners? Will we ever find out who won?

The short answer is “not for a while.”

The 49th Juno Awards were supposed to have already happened in Saskatoon, but they were canceled as a result of the coronavirus crisis at more-or-less the last minute.

But all the voting had been completed. Winners’ names are in sealed envelopes. Somewhere there’s a stash of engraved awards. When will we learn who won what?

According to CARAS, the organizers of the Junos, any winner announcements have been postponed indefinitely. From their statement:

“After much consideration & due to the escalating COVID-19 crisis & its impact on our communities, we have made the decision to hold off indefinitely on the announcement of the 2020 JUNO Award winners. Our focus will be to support the music community during this crisis and when appropriate, we will duly honour our artists and their achievements.”

When you think about it, this is probably the best course of action. Let’s get through this crisis before we celebrate anything.
