AI is now creating emo/screamo music

Burlington, Ontario’s Silverstein has been plugging away on the screamo scene FOREVER. You don’t last that long without always zigging and zagging with the times. So when they told me that they jumped into the world of NFTs, I wasn’t entirely surprised.

The Silverstein project is called Fake Feelings and uses artificial intelligence to create vocal stylings that while unique are still in the style of the band. There are no lyrics. Instead what we have are collections of “random syllables and raw sound.” There’s also a visualizer so we can see what these feelings “sound” like.

A thousand such pieces were created and then sold as NFTs. They disappeared in three minutes through a company called Braindrops.

What does AI emo sound like? Take a listen. And learn more about what’s going on here.
