Apple’s iTunes Radio Off to an Underwhelming Start. Is a Big iTunes Refresh Coming?

Although it has yet to be launched in Canada–it’s coming, though, trust me–iTunes Radio is already causing angst in Cupertino.

While it has plenty of users, only 1-2% are actually using the service’s click-to-buy function, something that was supposed to differentiate iTunes Radio in this space.  And given that iTunes makes billions and billions selling digital music, this was also supposed to help evolve that business model.

It hasn’t.  In fact, iTunes is seeing a continuing decline in digital music sales.  Other streaming music services are eating Apple’s lunch and giving them a painful wedgie at the same time.

This, according to insiders, hasn’t gone unnoticed by Cupertino.  Apple is allegedly considering the biggest overhaul to iTunes in more than ten years.

Billboard has more on the story here.
