Attention Toronto music fans: The third annual Dave Bookman tribute is coming up

Anyone who grew up as a music fan in Toronto between the late 80s and mid-2010s knew Dave Bookman. On the radio, he could be heard on 102.1 the Edge and later, Indie 88. He was a fixture on the local scene, presiding over Nu Music Night at The Horseshoe for years. But then he suddenly died, cut down by a health issue no one could have seen coming.

But Bookie’s spirit remains alive. There’s a commemorative plaque outside The Horseshoe. And coming up on May 9, The Garrison at 1197 Dundas Street West, will be the site of the third annual Dave Bookman tribute.

Friends, fans, and co-workers will be there, along with a long list of local indie musicians. Admission is free with a donation to the food bank.

Doors at 7, but the line will have formed long before that. Plan accordingly.
