Foo Fighters announce a new greatest hits album

The Foo Fighters have been around for more than a quarter-century now and have enough hits to fill a two-hour concert set, so it’s probably time for yet another greatest hits album. And the fourth quarter is traditionally “greatest hits album season” because of Christmas.

The Essential Foo Fighters, a collection of major Foo hits, is set for a physical-only release (CD and double vinyl) on October 28. This will be a follow-up to a similar collection released in 2009. It’s also a nice way to sum up the Taylor Hawkins era of the band.

Here’s the tracklist.

Everlong
Making a Fire
Times Like These
Rope
Monkey Wrench
My Hero
Cold Day in the Sun
Big Me
Long Road to Ruin
Shame Shame
Best of You
All My Life
The Pretender
This Is a Call
Waiting on a War (Vinyl only)
Walk
Learn to Fly
The Sky Is a Neighborhood
Breakout (Vinyl only)
These Days
