Here’s an example of how tough it is for a band to tour these days

Strange Advance had an excellent run in the 80s and early 90s. They’re still at it, too, although things are…different.

The group has a reputation to uphold when it comes to the spectacle they present to fans. They’re still touring like it was 1987 with 2,000 pounds of gear (lasers, projectors, screens, tons of keyboards, drums, and all kinds of support equipment). This requires a band and crew of 10. And while they’re getting plenty of offers to play, the financials are difficult.

Offers from promoters are too low to cover their costs, so the band has decided to promote its own shows. Acts from the 80s are big business these days, too.
