Listen to a lost 1992 demo from a pre-Foo Fighters Dave Grohl

Back in ’92, Dave Grohl was still the new guy in Nirvana, the latest in a long list of drummers employed by Kurt Cobain and Krist Novselic. Sure, he was with the band at their creative peak, but he was just the drummer.

Dave, though, had other ambitions. He’d been making demos of original music for some time, efforts that would eventually manifest themselves in the Foo Fighters. And they’ve done okay, right?

The latest thing to wash up on the shores of YouTube is this recording of Dave working out some ideas on guitar with Krist on bass and Rey Washam (recently ex of the band Tad) on drums in Nirvana’s rehearsal space. The date is October 6, 1992.

The jam apparently lasted a good two hours before it all broke up and everyone went to see Guns N’ Roses at the Kingdom. Take a listen. (Via Michael)
