How Many Albums Have Hit the Fabled Diamond Level in Canada?

In Canada, when artists go 10 times platinum, they’re awarded diamond status. Before May 2008, that meant an album that had sold one million copies in Canada was awarded diamond, but to make adjustments for the digital era sees that number downsized to the current 800,000.

The program started in 1969, and since then, just over 100 albums have hit the diamond mark. Out of those, 24 are by Canadians and include such artists like Michael Buble, Celine Dion, Shania Twain, and, of course, the Tragically Hip. Shania Twain has three double-diamond albums, and the fourth Canadian double-diamond album is Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill.

You can see all the albums that have reached the different statuses on the Music Canada website.
