Nuns Knock Off “Fifty Shades of Grey” (The Album). Good.

Fifty Shades of Grey and its sequels may have sold a bazillion copies, but they are amongst the most poorly-written books in a generation.  Forget about the themes of BDSM (which are portrayed badly) and the fact that they romaticize abusive relationships.  This is just bad writing.  Period.  Full stop.

Fifty Shades mania reached crazy proportions, right up to the point of having an album inspired by the books reach #1 on the Billboard traditional classical albums chart.

However, God seems to have noticed and intervened. The new top seller in the category is an album by a bunch of nuns.

Advent at Ephesus, recorded by the residents of The Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles, at Our Lady of Ephesus in Gower, Missouri, featurings nuns singing hymns and chanting.  They’ve knocked off the Fifty Shades classical collection and will probably end up with the top-selling classical album of 2012.

Go, sisters, go.
