Ongoing History Daily: More band name origins

If there’s one topic that never gets old it’s how bands got their names.

(1) White Reaper took their name from a Halloween decoration that featured the Grim Reaper dressed in a white cloak.

(2) July Talk is derived from that optimistic feeling you have in the middle of summer when you’re young. The “talk” part refers to how the band believes all their songs are conversations.

(3) If we look at 3 Doors Down, that came from a broken sign they saw in a friend’s backyard in Foley, Alabama that read “doors down.” Since there were three of them in the group at the time, they just added that number to the phrase.

Friday’s Ongoing Daily post dealt with the drum beat that leads off “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” by Jet.
