Ongoing History Daily: Tracking the murderer of Dave Navarro’s mother

Dave Navarro is famous for his work in Jane’s Addiction and for that stint he pulled with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.  Okay, he’s also famous for having been married to Carmen Electra, but let’s ignore that for now.

Dave is also well-known in certain police circles–not for something he did, but for something he saw.

In March 1983 (when Dave was about 16), his mother, Connie, along with her best friend, were shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend, right in front of Dave. The guy got away and wasn’t caught until the case was featured on America’s Most Wanted in 1991. John Dean Riccardi was arrested and charged with double murder.

In 2015, Dave released a documentary about the crime and his personal ordeal entitled Mourning Son.
