Ongoing History of New Music Daily: Real people feature in album artwork, part 3

Let’s look at a few more examples of real people who have been immortalized in album cover art.

  • Who is the woman on the cover of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ album Mother’s Milk? Her name is Dawn Alane. She auditioned for the gig but didn’t realize her picture was going to be used. The rose was added after record stores refused to display the record.
  • Blink-182 fans probably know that’s porn star Janine Lindemulder on the cover of Enema of the State. She’s still working in the biz.
  • Finally, we have the woman on the cover of Godsmack’s first album. That’s Toni Tiller who did some test shots for a photographer. She was picked when Godsmack was looking through a book of the photographer’s work. Toni was a little surprised when she turned up on an album cover. She’s now living in the woods somewhere where she says she’s into “meditation, strange objects, esoteric studies, dollhouses” and operates “a reform school for rude kittens.”
