Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour announces his first album in nine years. The first single is here: Listen.

Although Pink Floyd is dead forever and David Gilmour has sold off most of his guitars (including the famous Black Strat that appeared on every Floyd album), he’s not done making music.

Luck and Strange, his first solo record in nine years, will be out September 6. The album somehow incorporates keyboard bits left behind by Richard Wright, the band’s keyboardist who died in 2008.

The first single is entitled “The Piper’s Call.” Thoughts?

  • I like it. His solo work has always been solid. Something about his voice just grabs me, and there is no one that can play a guitar solo like him.

  • I agree with superdan. It sounds like classic Gilmour.
