Prepare for a mass Leonard Cohen singalong tonight in Montreal.

It’s been a tough week–and yes, it’s only been a week–with all this social distancing, self-isolation, and quarantines. All we want is for is for everything to get back to normal.

But the human spirit is a powerful thing. People will find ways to come together even when they’re separated.

Tonight (March 22) at 8pm, Montrealers are being asked to head to their balconies, front steps, and backyards to sing together. The selected song is Leonard Cohen’s big hit, “So Long Marianne.” You can check out the Facebook page here.

It begins:

Come over to the window, my little darling
I’d like to try to read your palm
I used to think I was some kind of Gypsy boy
Before I let you take me home

Now so long, Marianne
It’s time that we began to laugh
And cry and cry and laugh about it all again

Read more about tonight’s plans here. Can’t wait for the audio and video of this.
