Today is the 40th anniversary of the introduction of the bar code.  The first item scanned was a pack of Wrigley’s gum at a supermarket in Troy, Ohio.

  2. Speaking of such things, here’s a list of the music services most used by graduating high school seniors in the US.
  3. Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs is going to release a solo album on September 9.
  4. Forming a band? Here are the kind of bandmates you need to avoid like the plague.
  5. Linkin Park man to direct a feature film.
  6. Band sprays venue with animal blood causing damage. They probably won’t be back.
  7. Prince is the subject of a new Internet meme.
  8. And Prince has his fans in the US Congress.
  9. Eminem offensive?  Really?
  10. Michael Jackson’s earnings are now nearly $2 billion.  Death has been very, very good to the bottom line.  Too bad he’s, like, you know, dead.
  11. And still with MJ, check out this collection of isolated vocal tracks.  Say what you will about his weirdness, but he was damn talented.
  12. YouTube now has a satellite radio show.
