RIP Larry Mullen Sr: U2 Drummer’s Dad Passes Away

As if U2 hasn’t faced enough bad luck leading up to the start of the Innocence + Experience Tour, word comes from Ireland that Larry Mullen Sr died Sunday (May 10) at the age of 92. Here’s the official death notice from the funeral home in Ireland.

This harkens back to the 2001 Elevation Tour when Bono’s dad, Bob Hewson, died (August 21, 2001) And in a bizarre coincidence, it was on May 10, 2010, that Bono hurt his back so badly that he required surgery and physiotherapy, forcing the postponement of a big chunk of the 360 Tour.

No word on how this may affect the start of the tour this Thursday in Vancouver.
