Rolling Stones Request Trump to Stop Using Their Music

A number of artists have asked Trump to not play their music at his rallies. The Rolling Stones have now been added to that list after the GOP Presidential nominee contender played the rockers’ 1981 hit “Start Me Up”.

A spokesperson for the band told Billboard that “The Rolling Stones have never given permission to the Trump campaign to use their songs and have requested that they cease all use immediately”.

“You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and “Brown Sugar” have also been used during the Trump campaign.

Artists who have asked Trump to stop using their music include Adele, Steven Tyler, Neil Young, and REM. While political campaigns don’t need artists’ permission to play their music at rallies as long as they have the proper licensing through ASCAP and BMI, however artists and publishers are allowed to object to their music being used and can exclude their music from the license.

Trump might be a fan of these musicians, but their requests for him to not use their music shows that they are no fans of his.
