St. Vincent’s “Breast-Friendly” Guitars For Sale in March!
Female guitarists will soon be able to purchase a guitar designed specially for the female body. Art rocker St. Vincent debuted her “breast-friendly” guitar in 2015 when she went onstage with Taylor Swift. Now in production, the guitars will be available for purchase starting on March 3rd.
According to Happy:
“The guitar will come in four colours: Stealth Black, Tobacco Burst, Heritage Red, and Polaris White, which Clark has specifically dubbed the Thin White Duke after the late David Bowie”.
The singer-songwriter told Guitar World that her guitar’s design takes influence from eighties German synth-pop Klause Nomi, the Memphis design movement, Japanese guitars from the 60s and 70s, and classic car colours.
The guitar features an African mahogany body, Ernie Ball Music Man tremolo, gunstock oil and hand-rubbed rosewood neck and fingerboard, St. Vincent inlays, Schaller locking tuners, five-way pick up selector with custom configuration and three mini humbuckers. Additionally, the guitar comes with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky guitar strings. It will cost $1899.

Full respect for this, which looks like a nice instrument, but it is far from an original idea. Luna guitars have been tailored specifically for female players since their introduction.
Looks like a great guitar, but the question remains, why do you have to wear your guitar sitting that high up on your body in the first place?? It’s not the 1960’s any more, when that style of playing was common. I have my guitar strap as long as possible. My guitar sits near my waist, and I find it uncomfortable to play any other way. If’s you’re sitting down, like a classical player, then it becomes an issue.
