The Smashing Pumpkins are advertising for another guitarist. Interested in applying?

Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin have posted a job opening for a guitarist in the Smashing Pumpkins. This went out on Instagram on January 5. The lucky person will replace Jeff Schroeder, who has been a touring guitarist with the band for 16 years. He left the gig back in October. I quote:

“Although it was a very difficult decision to make, I’ve decided to leave the band to make some space to explore a slightly different path. I want to thank Billy, Jimmy, James, and Jack for being both wonderful bandmates and even better friends. I will absolutely miss sharing the stage with you and wish the band all the success in the future.”

Here’s the interesting and inspiring thing about Jeff. He got the Pumpkins gig while he was a student at UCLA. A friend messaged him with details of the job and say “You should apply, dude.” He did and he got it.

Who will be the next Jeff Schroeder? A European tour starts June 7, so things are going to move fast for whomever is selected.

Then there’s this. Probably a joke, right?

And this.
