Today Is the Most Awesome Day of the Year for New Releases (Including Trent Reznor X 2)

If you’re anywhere near a record store, this would be the day to visit.  Failing that, browse the front page of iTunes.  Just look what’s out today:

  • Brian Eno, Lux
  • Clinic, Free Reign
  • Crystal Castles, III
  • Deftones, Koi No Yokan
  • Green Day, Dos!
  • Rolling Stones, Grrr!
  • Soundgarden, King Animal (Read this.)
  • Travis Barker and Yelawolf, Psycho White
  • Plus, there are new records from Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion, One Direction and Susan Boyle. And I’m sure I’ve missed a bunch of others.

Me, I’m pleased about the new EP, An Omen_ (don’t forget that underscore at the end), from How to Destroy Angels, the band featuring Trent Reznor, his wife Mariqueen, and his soundtrack collaborator, Attitus White.  And if that weren’t enough, Trent’s theme for Call of Duty: Black Ops II is also out.

And I’m still not done.  Look what’s happening with The Beatles.

Brand new vinyl reissues of all their albums (on 180-gram virgin vinyl, of course), are also in stores today.  In LA and New York, they’ve arranged for pop-up stores in the form of English double-decker buses.  Full details here.
