Top Ten Music Videos With Puppets

Recently, I caught the latest trailer for the new Muppets movie, Muppets Most Wanted. Filled with cameos and muppets galore, this is everything that I love about Henson’s creations.  And then I was I was inspired. It was time to list the Top Ten Music Videos With Puppets. There have been puppets all over music videos. From classic rock artists to English songstresses to American alternative heros, puppets are awesome.

10) Weezer – Keep Fishin

Couldn’t have the list without actual Muppets. Weezer’s team up went quite well.

9) Coldplay – Life in Technicolor

Kudos to Coldplay with going a very different puppet route, instead of muppet like puppets, Coldplay went with traditional style marionettes.

8) Brighton Port Authority – He’s Frank

The man formerly known as Fatboy Slim enlisted the king of rock, Iggy Pop, to work on his album. And then they created a rather disturbing puppet of Iggy for the video. In all honesty, the body and the moves are incredibly Iggy but the face… a bit frightening.

7) Supergrass – Pumping On Your Stereo

A little bit of a twist to this week’s theme, this features Supergrass as half human, half puppet. What would you call that? Pupborg? Cyuppet? At any rate, I’m pretty sure it’s an abomination of science and could be killed by fire.

6) Dire Straits – Calling Elvis

If you’re of a certain age, you remember the television show Thunderbirds. And you loved it despite the fact it was filled with the creepiest puppets on earth. It’s called Super-Marination.  Apparently Dire Straits thought it would make a great video subject…. creepy creepy puppets.

5) Lily Allen – Alfie

Lily Allen’s family life is a little weird. She has a younger brother who according to her song, is a bit of a lazy ass. He’s also a puppet who has some pretty sweet dance moves..  I’m curious which one of them is adopted? Or do they have one puppet parent and one human and like in cartoons, that means you get one human child and one puppet?

4) Trace Adkins – Brown Chicken Brown Cow

I’m not really a country music guy but there’s something about perverted farm animals spying on their masters that I like… what? Don’t judge me.

3) Imagine Dragons – Radioactive

A video that involves puppet fighting that is incredibly well done. You actually feel sorry for the puppets who get the crap kicked out of them. Bonus points for the inclusion of Lou Diamond Phillips.

2) Genesis – Land of Confusion

Featuring the work of UK puppet show, Spitting Image, the puppets of the members of Genesis are amazingly accurate, the video is a great fit for the song… although I’m sure younger readers are probably wondering who some of the celebrities parodied here are.

Ever wondered what would happen if the muppets on Sesame Street took PCP and murdered each other? I’m pretty sure it would look like the video for Deathbound…. not that I’ve ever watched Sesame Street on PCP.
