Weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats: 11 Sept 2023

As the recorded music industry preps for the all-important fourth quarter, here are the sales and streaming numbers that have their attention. We begin as always with a comparison of last week to the week before. It was back-to-school week, so there was a dip across all sales categories.

  • Total album sales, -5.0%
  • CD sales, -10.5%
  • Digital album sales, -12.2%
  • Digital track sales, -11.2%
  • Vinyl LPs, +22.5%
  • On-demand audio streams, +15.5%

This is last week compared the same week in 2022.

  • Total album sales, -13.6%
  • CD sales, -18.0%
  • Digital album sales, -5.3%
  • Digital track sales, -3.7%
  • Vinyl LPs, -19.4%
  • On-demand audio streams, 0.0% (2,507,793,616 streams in the country last week. That’s just 32,811 more than last week’s number.)
