Luminate, the new name for MRC Data (which was the new name for BDS/SoundScan), has released its weekly stats for Canadian music sales and streaming. As usual, we begin with the year-over-year numbers.

Total album sales, -8.4%
CD sales, +3.3%
Digital albums, -20.6%
Digital tracks, -20.8%
Vinyl LPs, -3.0%
On-demand audio streams, +12.8%

Now let’s compare last week to the week before.

Total album sales, +23.9% (Wow!)
CD sales, +42.9% (NOT a typo!)
Digital albums, -4.4%
Digital tracks, 0.0%
Vinyl albums, +39.0% (Again, wow!)
On-demand audio streams, +0.1% (2.110 billion streams in the country last week)
