Weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats: 21 March 2022

This marks another change in the name of the company that provides us with weekly music sales and streaming stats. First, it was BDS/SoundScan. Then it was MRC. Now the company has been rebranded as Luminate Data. New name, same sort of statistical analysis.

Year-over-year comparisons.

  • CD sales, +0.7%
  • Digital albums, -20.1%
  • Digital tracks, -21.0%
  • Vinyl LPs, -5.7%
  • On-demand audio streams, +13.1%

Week-over-week numbers:

  • Total album sales, -1.9%
  • CD sales, +3.4%
  • Digital albums, -7.5%
  • Digital tracks, -1.3%
  • Vinyl LPs, -3.3%
  • On-demand audio streams, +0.6% (2.108 billion streams in the country last week).
