Ye is going to release his Donda 2 album in a weird way. UPDATED: It’s working.

Kanye West’s next album, Donda 2, is supposed to arrive on Tuesday. But you know Ye, right? That could change any second–even after the album comes out.

And he’s doing it in a weird way: On Ye’s Stem Player, a pocket-sized device that allows users to remix anything that’s been pre-loaded onto it. The catch? It costs US$200.

Why? Ye explains.

Okay. Good luck.

UPDATE: Kanye says he’s earned US$2.2 million on Stem sales since he made the announcement. That makes up for the US$2 million sponsorship he lost with Apple as a result.
