YouTube Music now offers music search via humming

Don’t you just hate when you can’t remember the specifics of a song? You don’t know the title, the artist, or even any of the lyrics. The one thing you do remember is the melody. How many record store clerks have had to deal with customers humming songs at them in hope that they know what they’re talking about.

Well, no more. In a semi-science-fiction development, YouTube Music has unveiled a new feature that allows anyone to search for a song by humming, singing, or playing a tune into the app. The query is sent to Google’s servers featuring over 100 million songs. In a flash, you should get all the information you’re looking for. The YouTube Music app is available for both Android and iOS in all the app stores.

And there’s more coming, too. YouTube Music says “We hope to bring this to even more YouTube Music users in the future.” Whatever could that mean?

Meanwhile, another new feature is on the way that will allow users of YouTube Music Premium users to create a custom radio station just by talking into the app and explaining what your music preferences are.
