An interesting use of AI: An artist creates a new song using the voice of his late father

It seems like every day brings new use possibility for artificial intelligence and music. Bring back the dead? Sure!

Back in 2021, a South Korean company called Supertone resurrected Kim Kwang-seok, a folk superstar who died. Tencent, the Chinese giant, used their own voice synthesis technology to create songs by two deceased artists, Teresa Teng and Anita Mui.

Now we have Pedro Capmany, a musician from Costa Rica who used AI to record a duet with his late father, a legendary Costa Rican rock star (a man crowed “Father of Rock” in the country) named José Capmany. He died in 2001 at the age of 40.

Using recordings his father left behind, Pedro was able to create this brand new song.
