As the World Cup wraps up, it’s maybe time to talk about football’s love of “Seven Nation Army”

Leading up to this weekend, there were exactly 100 World Cup games in Canada, the US, and Mexico. I watched most of them, and I’m pretty sure the crowd sang The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army” at least once in most of them.

The question is, why? What is it about those seven notes that have made it a worldwide footy anthem? Hell, it’s the most famous seven notes in all of sports.
