Bob Marley-Branded Legal Ganja? Sounds Right to Me

In ten years, maybe less, we’ll all look back on the criminalization of marijuana and wonder what all the fuss was about. We’re inexorably moving towards an era when pot and hemp products will be as legal as a bottle of Scotch.

Entrepreneurs have been lining up for years to cash in on the coming wave of legal dope. Already, the US market for legal pot is worth about $2 billion–and the estate of Bob Marley want a piece of the action.

Introducing Marley Natural, a variety that offers “heirloom Jamaican cannabis strains inspired by those Bob Marley enjoyed.” Along with bud, the line includes cannabis- and hemp-based after-sun creams and various topical lotions.

And this isn’t just some minor venture. Marley Natural is backed by Privateer Holdings, a private equity firm based in Seattle worth millions upon millions of dollars. They’re also the people behind Leafly.com, which is kind of like the Yelp of spliff makers.
