WTF?

Can you solve this musical riddle? It’s driving me nuts.

This arrived in the inbox last night. I haven’t slept since. What’s the answer?

Hey Alan,

My cousin sent me this trivia question/riddle and its killing me….and to be honest, it made me think of you right away.

A company’s 2023 ad featured a hit song which mentioned a dance move, and reached the top ten on the Billboard Singles Chart the year it was released. The hit single also referenced three other hit songs, each of which charted in the top ten, including two #1 hits. Versions of one of these hit songs has been recorded more than 100 times. Versions of another reached the #1 spot on the Billboard chart twice. What is the name of the dance referenced in the title of the song used for the 2023 ad?

I apologize in advance as I do not know the answer. If you do, please end my agony.

Big fan from Tampa,

John

  • The dance move referenced in the title of the song used for the 2023 ad is likely the “Twist.” The riddle mentions that the song reached the top ten on the Billboard Singles Chart the year it was released, which is a characteristic of the famous song “The Twist” by Chubby Checker. This song also references three other hit songs, including two #1 hits, which are likely related to songs that were popular during the time when “The Twist” was released.
