Canadian company wins contract to provide karaoke for Chinese EVs

In some places on the planet, karaoke is an indispensable part of life. Everyone wants to grab the mic.

Stingray, the Canadian broadcasting and media services company, knows this well and has operated in the karaoke world for yeas. Now they’ve struck a deal with BYD, the giant Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer (the biggest in the world, actually), to provide karaoke material for infotainment systems.

For a monthly fee, drivers and passengers in BYD cars will be able to choose from 100,000 songs. Lyrics appear on their dashboard screens (It’s safe; no lyrics are displayed when the car is moving) and mobile devices. Two microphones are built into the centre console.

This isn’t the first such contract for Stingray. They have similar deals with Tesla, Audi, and Vietnam-based VinFast.
