Is This the First Android-Powered Car Stereo Unit?

Apparently so.  It’s called the Asteroid from a company called Parrot.

It’s not super powerful–it runs the ancient Donut release (Android 1.6)–but it is a true mini-computer in the dashboard.  But take away the amplifier and we already have much, much more powerful and sophisticated devices at our disposal.  They’re called “smart phones.”
