Going to See Unbroken Over the Holidays? Note the Japanese Rock Star

Unbroken, the Angelina Jolie-directed World War II drama that opened today (Christmas Day), features a guy name Miyavi as the internment camp guard. This is the best rock-star-in-a-Japanese-prisoner-of-war-role since David Bowie in Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (and Ryuichi Sakamoto, of course).

So who’s Miyavi?  His bands have included Dué le Quartz and S.K.I.N., plus he’s released a series of solo albums.  Here’s a taste.

So how did he get the gig with Unbroken? The story is at TIME.
