Huzzah! Canada will compete in Eurovision in 2027!

Following the CBC’s full integration into the European Broadcasting Union, Canada is now fully eligible to participate in the greatest, dumbest, campiest, cheesiest, cringiest, most flamboyant, and totally over-the-top music event in the world.

Yes, Canada will participate in Eurovision. And I am soooooooooo here for it. Even our Prime Minister is on board in a big way.

Ever since Eurovision was established in 1956, it has set the bar very high (low?) when it comes to absolutely bonkers music entertainment. And it’s huge. Eurovision 2026 was watched live by 135 million people and achieved more than a billion impressions online.

Whoever represents Canada in the future will draw more attention to us from our European brethren, which, if we’re honest increasingly have more in common with us than our southern neighbours.

Who will be Team Canada for 2027? Unclear, but playdown information will have to be released in the next few months.

This will be epically dumb. I can’t wait. I will have more on this very soon. (Video via Sean)
