Josh Homme Kicks a Concert Photographer in the Head

Josh Homme went on a bit of a kicking jag during a show in LA on Saturday night. Lights, gear, a photographer. Oops.

The photographer at the end of Josh’s boot was Chelsea Lauren, on assignment for Shutterstock which has a license with Variety. Here’s how the magazine quoted her:

“Josh was coming over and I was pretty excited, I’ve never actually photographed Queens Of The Stone Agebefore, I was really looking forward to it. I saw him coming over and I was shooting away,” she said. “The next thing I know his foot connects with my camera and my camera connects with my face, really hard. He looked straight at me, swung his leg back pretty hard and full-blown kicked me in the face. He continued performing, I was startled, I kind of stopped looking at him, I just got down and was holding my face because it hurt so badly.” Eventually she returned to the press room, where a rep from KROQ in the press room received a text from an audience member asking, “Did the guitarist for Queens Of The Stone Age kick a photographer in the face?”

Josh responded with this.

  • I’ve been following QOTSA for a while;
    He can write some great music, but apparently can also be a real dick.
    Everyone is entitled to be a dick, but to wind up and boot someone in the press box is seriously douchy – those are the people who write stories, and share photos of gigs we can’t all be fortunate enough to see.
    “It’s come to my attention” – BS.
    Step up and do something to make it right Josh.

    Sounds like a bullshit excuse to me. I almost hope he’s messed up on drugs and/or alcohol. Somehow better than just being an asshole who kicks people at random.

    I got slapped hard across the face by a wannabe douchebag while taking concert shots with a press pass. Must have been close to ten years ago now and I still get pissed off thinking about it. Obviously wasn’t an accident, he was just “in the moment”. (Also I wasn’t using flash or anything to piss him off.)
