Listen to Kurt Cobain’s Pre-Bleach Mixtape

A little sleuthing by Dangerous Minds has turned up a mixtape created by Kurt Cobain dating to sometime in 1988, before the band even recorded the Bleach album.

Called “Montage of Heck,” it features some of Kurt’s favourite bands of the era including Shocking Blue (Nirvana’s first 7-inch would be their version of Shocking Blue’s “Love Buzz”), the Beatles, the Velvet Underground, Led Zeppelin and Van Halen. But it also contains snippets of Cher, ABBA, Sammy Davis Jr. and William Shatner.

An eclectic mix to be sure. Give it a listen.
