The #1 iPhone App in the world is one you’ve never heard of–unless you’re from China.

The iPhone app marketplace is dominated by familiar names: Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, and so on. Chances are you have all of them on your phone right now. But what about Tik Tok?

The Chinese music video app has been downloaded from the App Store close to 50 million times in just the last three months.

What is Tik Tok? In China, it’s known as Douyin and words as a music video and social messaging app. Users shoot short video clips, edit them, and music and special effects and then send them along.

If you’re feeling adventurous, Tik Tok doesn’t seem to be in the Canadian App Store. No wonder we’ve never heard of it. (Via Hypebot)
