Medical Mysteries of Music

This Canadian woman set a world record for the loudest nose whistle. You read that correctly.

We’ve all had whistling noses, especially if we’re congested with allergies or a cold. Lulu Lotus has a special talent with her nose. She can control its whistling to the point of being apple to play a simple tune. Lulu has been doing this since the age of 7.

It’s not terribly loud–44.1 dB, which is about the same as a cat’s meow–but it’s enough to prank people. This came to the attention of the people at the Guinness Book of World Records who has since certified her as having the loudest nose whistle in the world. As the video shows, she can freak out dogs with her ability.
