This is the perfect name for a hockey team from Athens, Georgia
If I’m honest, I had no idea that there was a pro hockey league called the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL). Up until this week, there were eleven teams stretching from the Wolves in Watertown, New York, to the Sea Wolves in Biloxi, Mississippi, and the Baton Rouge Zydeco. Games are held in arenas with capacities anywhere from 1,500 all the way up to 9,100.
The FPHL has announced two new expansion teams. The Dashers will start play out of Danville, Illinois, this fall and will be slotted in the Continental Division. The other new team will be based out of the Classic Centre Arena in Athens, Georgia.
What do you call a hockey team out of Athens? Yep. This was the winner of a public vote. And The B52s (who come from Athens) are thrilled. Now they need to rename the arena The Love Shack (although I’m betting that will happen regardless.)
I suspect they’ll do very well with team merch!
