Wax Trax! Documentary and Soundtrack Coming in April!
When I was getting my musical legs under me in the early 90s, Wax Trax! Records
Unfortunately, by the time I had discovered them, Wax Trax was essentially gone. Bad business deals had taken their toll and the label was sold to TVT Records. Shortly after that, one of the co-founders, Jim Nash, passed away.
But like all good things in music, there was a resurrection of sorts.
In 2014, Julia Nash, daughter of Jim, restarted Wax Trax and there was talk that a documentary on the label was in the works. Industrial Accident: The Story of Wax Trax! Records began to hit the festival circuit in 2017 but for those who couldn’t make it to one of those showings, we are not only getting a DVD/Blu Ray release but we’re also getting a soundtrack with some unreleased music.
The documentary features interviews with Al Jourgensen, Paul Barker, Luk Van Acker, Dave Grohl, Steve Albini, Trent Reznor and many more.
Not forgetting their record store roots, there will also be a Record Store Day release. The CD version lists three “mystery tracks” in the track listing as well as a Fini Tribe song that is not available on the vinyl release.
I wonder if I can get them to just send everything to my house and let me make monthly payments?
The Blu ray/DVD and soundtrack hit on April 16 and a Record Store Day version of the soundtrack coming on April 13. Here are the links if you want to pre-order the film and the soundtrack. In the meantime, take a look at the trailer.
I’m really looking forward to seeing this! I spent many hours looking over the mail order form that came with Wax Trax albums.
