Weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats: 18 April 2022

Luminate, the company that monitors the health of music sales and streaming for the recorded music industry, has issued the weekly numbers for the week. Here are the numbers comparing last week to the same week in 2021.

  • Total album sales, -8.7%
  • CD sales, +0.1%
  • Digital albums, -20.0%
  • Digital tracks, -20.9%
  • Vinyl LPs, -1.7%
  • On-demand audio streams, +12.9%

Here are the numbers comparing last week to the week before.

  • Total album sales, +2.6%
  • CD sales, +8.9%
  • Digital albums, -11.3%
  • Digital tracks, -3.1%
  • Vinyl LPs, +20.3%
  • On-demand audio streams, +0.3% (2.155 billion streams in the country last week. I’m pretty sure that’s an all-time high).
