Breathlessly melodic and deeply rhythmic.

Sounds like: “Baby, I’m bleeding, I’m falling apart…”

This song is the epitome of that moment right after something traumatic happens, when the world is suddenly still and your brain is hanging in the balance because you can’t comprehend the permanency of the pain that’s about to hit.

Sounds like: “Coming up for air…”

Well, this song’s just a shit ton of fun.

Sounds like:  “Is this the nightlife these days…?”

Artist: PUP “My Shadow”
Album: Jay Reatard Cover

This is a pretty killer cover. PUP does a great job of capturing that raw, visceral energy that was so characteristic of Jay but they do it with brash punk rock appeal.

Sounds like: “If this is the way it’s going to be / Then I am so sure / That Life is lost / It’s only thrill and it’s tomorrow.”

This guy’s channeling a little Prince and I dig it.
