Ongoing History Daily: Dallas Green Facts

Dallas Green has been part of the Canadian music landscape for years, first as a part of Alexisonfire and then on his own under the name City and Colour. Here are a few facts about Dallas and his career that you may have missed.

First, he was named after a manager for Philadelphia Phillies named Dallas Green. His dad bet on the Phillies to win the World Series in the weeks after his son was born in September 1980. When they won, he declared that his son, too, should be named “Dallas Green.”

There was a band before Alexisonfire, a heavy alt-rock outfit called Helicon Blue. Nine songs recorded by them were re-released in 2016, if you’re interested.

And this might go without saying, but his solo project City and Colour is derived from his name: “Dallas” and “green.”
