This is cool: 19-year-old Courtney Love fronting Faith No More

It’s a well-known piece of Faith No More and Courtney Love lore that she was briefly the band’s lead singer for a short time in 1984. This, however, is new to me.

The internet has kicked up a 28-minute clip of FNM (thanks to LouderSound) performing on a San Francisco public access TV show on June 17, 1984. Courtney–identifying as “Courtney Henley,” for some reason–was 19 at the time. The gig didn’t last long as she was fired a short time later.

This is truly amazing! I can never find the words to describe how weird and wonderful the 80’s were at times. I love seeing unearthed stuff like this!

I always knew the factoid that Love was in FNM for a hot minute, but I never saw proof!!!! Wow! And just another reason, I’d love to see Courtney get her shit together and tour!

I saw Hole a couple times in 94? Maybe 95? And Courtney was doing that thing were she’d stage dive at the end and then beret the audience for molesting her. I saw it twice, and both times my audience failed. I wonder if an audience passed that test back then? I would hope an audience would pass that test now.

    Two things…

    1. I was no where near her when she crowd surfed. But I most def would not have groped her. I remember so many times in the pits back in those days telling girls “just don’t do it.” It’s sad that that was the best advice back then.

    2. She signed my ticket stub, God I sound old, after one of the shows… and the signature was Courtney Love Cobain.
