Weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats: 30 August 2021

As usual, the data the Canadian recorded music industry needs to know about arrived Monday evening. Here’s how things shape up in the country when it comes to sales and streaming.

Comparing last week to the same week in 2020:

  • Total album sales, -11.1%
  • CD sales, -5.0%
  • Digital albums, -27.9%
  • Digital tracks, -26.8%
  • Vinyl LPs, +50.4% (vinyl is on fire!)
  • On-demand audio streams, +12.4%

Now let’s compare last week to the week before:

  • Total album sales: +6.4%
  • CD sales, +5.5%
  • Digital albums, +0.2%
  • Digital tracks, -0.8%
  • Vinyl LPs, +24.6%
  • On-demand audio streams: +0.1% (2.062 billion streams in the country last week)
