What’s been going on with Canadian music sales and streaming over the past week? Let’s get caught up, staring with comparing last week to the same week in 2021.

  • CD sales, -4.5%
  • Digital albums, -21.9%
  • Digital tracks, -20.1%
  • Vinyl LPs, -0.5%
  • On-demand audio streams, +13.2%

Now let’s focus on last week as compared to the week before.

  • Total album sales -21.0%
  • CD sales, -42.5% (What? Wow. That’s wild.)
  • Digital albums, +8.9%
  • Digital tracks, +3.2% (I wonder how much of that was Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill?”)
  • Vinyl LPs, -18.1%
  • On-demand audio streams, +0.4% (2.392 billion streams in the country last week)
